NEARLY 500,000 Chinese visitors arrived in Cambodia in the first 11 months of 2023. The number is 449 percent higher than the figures recorded in 2022.
The kingdom attracted 498,250 Chinese visitors during the first 11 months of 2023 as compared to only 90,648 in the same period last year.
China was the third biggest source of foreign tourists to Cambodia after Thailand and Vietnam.
Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism aims to see more Chinese holidaymakers and ensure that the Southeast Asian country is a safe place to visit.
The ministry believes that the Siem Reap Angkor International Airport funded by China will help attract more foreign visitors.
Tourism is one of the four important pillars supporting Cambodia’s economy. Nearly five million foreigners visited the Southeast Asian nation from January to November 2023.
