NANUMPA na sa kanyang tungkulin si Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo bilang director general ng Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) noong Nobyembre 14, 2022.
Pinangasiwaan naman ang oath taking ceremony ni Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista.
Si DG Tamayo ay isang lisensyadong piloto na may 42 taong karanasan sa aviation industry.
Kinilala si DG sa kanyang kahusayan sa paglipad sa Philippine Air Force (PAF) kung saan nagsimula ang kanyang karera sa paglipad.
Nagtapos siya noong 1975 sa Philippine Air Force Flying School.
Matatandaan bago maging director general ng CAAP, si DG Tamayo ay itinalaga muna ito ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte bilang Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports sa ilalim ng Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Bilang undersecretary para sa aviation, lumahok at nagtrabaho si DG Tamayo sa paglunsad at pagkumpleto ng 217 airport development projects.
Samantala kasama ni DG Tamayo na nanumpa ang respective appointees sa posisyon ng CAAP, kabilang dito ang Deputy Director General for Administration, Assistant Director General (ADG) II/Air Traffic Service (ATS), ADG II/CAAP Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS), at Corporate Executive Officer V/Head Executive Assistant ng CAAP.
