CVCHD, PhilHealth join efforts to improve regional healthcare access

THE Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD) and PhilHealth Regional Office II have united through a Joint Management Committee Meeting in Tuguegarao City last May 13, 2024, to enhance healthcare accessibility and efficiency.

The agenda spans critical aspects of regional healthcare, including the licensing status of primary care facilities, and accreditation progress across different provinces, of which DOH licensed PCF accounts to ninety-two (92) while there are forty-nine (49) PhilHealth-Konsulta accredited PCF out of the total 98 PCF in the region; taking into consideration the vital components for its recognition, thus, CVCHDย  commits to providing technical assistance to address issues and concerns, thus, increase licensed and accredited PCFs in the region.

The integration of the Primary Care Providers Network (PCPN) and Health Care Providers Network (HCPN) has emerged as an important agenda, representing a cornerstone in the quest for Universal Health Coverage (UHC), aiming to guarantee access to essential health services for all without financial burdens; and emphasizing the significance of an integrated local health system, the objective is to establish a cohesive network of health services within communities, overcoming challenges linked to referral systems, thus, diverse health needs of the population are addressed while enhancing efficiency and efficacy in healthcare delivery.

Additionally, discussions have addressed the issues and concerns regarding information systems at the local health level, focusing on strategies to improve system compatibility and streamline processes, especially during the transition from eKonsulta to iClinicSys; both PhilHealth and the Department of Health (DOH), through the CHD have committed to providing the necessary technical assistance and fostering strong collaboration with stakeholder, thereby expediting the upgrading and functionality across health facilities, furthermore, suggestions have been proposed to enhance human resource capacity for optimal operations.

Encompassing action agendas (1) ๐˜ฝ๐™–๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™‹๐™ž๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฅ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™ค ๐™๐™–๐™ข๐™™๐™–๐™ข ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™†๐™–๐™ก๐™ช๐™จ๐™ช๐™œ๐™–๐™ฃ through mainstreaming the primary healthcare approach; (2) ๐™‡๐™ž๐™œ๐™ฉ๐™–๐™จ, ๐™™๐™š๐™ ๐™–๐™ก๐™ž๐™™๐™–๐™™ ๐™–๐™ฉ ๐™ข๐™–๐™ฅ๐™–๐™œ๐™ ๐™–๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™จ๐™š๐™ง๐™—๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฎ๐™ค through ensuring access to safe, high-quality and people-centered healthcare services, and (3) ๐™๐™š๐™ ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ก๐™ค๐™๐™ž๐™ฎ๐™– ๐™ฅ๐™–๐™ง๐™– ๐™จ๐™– ๐™ข๐™–๐™—๐™ž๐™ก๐™ž๐™จ ๐™ฃ๐™– ๐™จ๐™š๐™ง๐™—๐™ž๐™จ๐™ฎ๐™ค through leveraging digital health and technology for efficient & accessibleย  health service delivery.

The joint meeting in conclusion aims to improve the healthcare system across different levels of care through upgrading facilities for specialty care, developing specialty facilities in communities and to upgrade service delivery in primary care facilities, ensuring accessibility to underserved and far-flung areas;ย  a work in progress to improve access to care in region 2.

Notable key players were CVCHD Regional Director Dr. Razel Nikka Hao and BGen. Llewelyn Binasoy, Regional Vice President of PhilHealth Region 2, alongside their Management Committee.
