Davao City’s Sidlakang Women Crisis Center continues to serve Dabawenyos

THE City Government of Davao, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) continues to support women and children who are victims of violence by providing them with services and temporary shelter.

This as the Sidlakan Women Crisis Center celebrated its 16th anniversary on August 15.

The center, which was created by the City Government of Davao, is a residential care facility that provides temporary shelter to women and children who are victims of gender and domestic violence.

The center, which is under the supervision of the CSWDO, offers various programs and services such as skills training for personal growth that could help them prepare when they return to their community.

“Our center provides food, clothing to the residents who are in our center, and social services including counselling. We also have legal counseling, group work within the center, educational services, and productivity skills training” Rosabelle Diacamus, the center’s manager, said.

Diacamus also said they were able to continue serving the women and children because of the support from the City Government of Davao through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), its stakeholders, partner agencies, parents of the clients, and staff.

“We had a great anniversary celebration because of them,” Diacamus told the City Information Office.

At present, there are 15 children and women seeking temporary shelter in the facility.

Diacamus said that with continuous support from the city government, the center will be able to help women and children in need. CIO
