TO regulate stormwater flow and enhance flood control in the area, the Department of Public Works and Highways – North Manila District Engineering Office initiated the construction of a mini pumping station, along Pat Antonio Street in Barangay 602, Sta. Mesa, Manila, adjacent to the San Juan River.
This flood mitigation structure is equipped with specifically designed features to effectively mitigate flooding. Civil improvements include sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and a perimeter fence to enhance accessibility, safety, and security. Designed for integrated and efficient flood control, ensuring reliability and protection for the surrounding community, this project aims to provide a comprehensive solution to flooding while improving environmental safety and accessibility in the area.
Under the ‘Build Better More’ program of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., spearheaded by Secretary Manuel Bonoan, the completion of this mini pumping station will protect around eight barangays in Sta. Mesa and nearby areas against flooding, ultimately improving community disaster resiliency.
