NANGAKO ang Department of Information Communications Technology (DICT) at National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) na magtutulungan para sa pagkakaroon ng high-speed internet infrastructure ang bansa kasunod ng nilagdaang Master Lease Agreement.
Inilahad ni DICT Secretary Ivan Uy na bibilisan nilang maisakatuparan ang pagkakaroon ng pamahalaan ng sariling fiber broadband na magpapalakas sa government internet connectivity sa bansa.
Kasunod na rin ito sa ginawang kasunduan ng DICT na makipagtulungan sa National Grid Corporaton of the Philippines upang masolusyunan ang problema sa mabagal na internet ng bansa.
“So NGCP has been kindled us to work with the Philippine government in order to accelerate our deployment of our national broadband strategies by allowing us to utilize the dark fiber, you know to deliver high capacity broadband connectivity to the internet and that’s what we signed today is a master lease agreement on the facilities because we would definitely relocate our facilities inside the NGCP infrastructure and so our DICT infrastructure will also be- in order to access that broadband infrastructure that already deployed out there,” pahayag ni Uy.
Sinabi pa ng kalihim na sa pamamagitan nito ay mapapalakas ang network backbone ng pamahalaan na makatutulong upang hindi na umasa pa sa internet connectivity mula sa commercial o mga private sector.
Sa oras na maging operational ang naturang dark fiber, mapalalakas ang internet connectivity ng national government, local government units, mga barangay at paaralan sa buong bansa.
“We now have a government broadband as pur backbone and this will enhanced our competitiveness as well as a reliability especially for government connections, for the local governments, national government agencies in the regions. This will accelerate connectivity to our schools, local government units, to our barangays and many areas that have commercial partners and that will be able to do,” ayon kay Uy.
Dagdag pa ni Sec. Uy, ang Phase 1 ng National Broadband Program ay ia-activate ng DICT ang cable landing station sa Baler, Aurora at kokonekta ito sa NGCP sa La Union sa pamamagitan ng Luzon Bypass Infrastructure.
Pagbibigay-diin pa ng opisyal, ang NBP at ang DICT ay magpapakalat ng broadband sa buong bansa partikular na sa mga lugar na malayo at hindi nakaka-access.
At mababawasan din ang subscription fee sa internet ng pamahalaan sa pamamagitan nito.
“Well, malaki ang masa-save natin because once we deploy our own broadband then we free-up the burden on the commercial because currently the government is using commercial lines in order to provide that lines. So mahihirapan kasi nakikipag-agaw ang gobyerno sa private sector kaya medyo nararamdaman nila bakit bumabagal kasi overloaded kumbaga yung commercial lines. So ngayon once ma deploy ito at lilipat ‘yung mga government connectivity, government services to the government broadband connection so magfrefree-up na ‘yun ‘yung bandwidth to the private sector at maaari nilang mabenta sa negosyante sa mga e-commerce and other customers,” ani Uy.
Target ng ahensiya na maging operational ang Luzon bypass infrastructure sa unang kwarter ng 2023, kung saan nasa higit P900 milyong ang inilaang pondo para sa phase 1 backbone internet ng pamahalaan.
Mababatid na ang LBIP ay isa sa mga priority projects sa ilalim ng administrasyong Marcos na layong mapabilis at mabigyan ng maayos at murang internet connectivity ang bansa.
