SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go’s Malasakit Team mounted a relief effort for disadvantaged residents whose lives were adversely affected by economic challenges in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, on Thursday, July 18.
His Malasakit Team distributed shirts, vitamins, basketballs, volleyballs, snacks, and sling bags to a total of 1,500 indigents who attended the distribution event at the municipal gymnasium. They also gave away new pairs of shoes, cellular phones, and watches to select recipients.
Meanwhile, through the efforts of Vice Mayor Datu Shameem Mastura, the national government granted all beneficiaries financial assistance.
Apart from the support provided, Go, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, also offered medical assistance to those with health issues who require but cannot afford urgent medical treatments or services.
He informed the beneficiaries that they may conveniently apply for government assistance at any of the 166 Malasakit Centers in the country, including the Cotabato Sanitarium and General Hospital in the town and Cotabato Regional and Medical Center in Cotabato City. So far, the program has helped more or less ten million Filipinos.
“Nasa loob na po ng hospital ang apat na ahensya ng gobyerno—PhilHealth, PCSO, DOH, at DSWD—na handang tumulong po sa inyong pababain ang inyong balance po. Para po sa Pilipino ang Malasakit Center, sa poor and indigent patients po,” Go, who is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, further explained.
“Ako ang inyong Senator Kuya Bong Go, patuloy na magseserbisyo sa inyong lahat dahil bisyo ko na ang magserbisyo at ako po ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo po ‘yan sa Diyos,” added Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service for the poor.
