Fifth relief plane from Kuwait departs for flood-hit Libya

Kuwait has extended its humanitarian air bridge amid the devastating aftermath of Storm Daniel, which killed thousands of lives within a week.

The fifth relief plane contained 10 tons of medical supplies and other necessities.

The first planeload of relief supplies left Kuwait on September 13.

Storm Daniel hit northeastern Libya on Sunday, September 10.

The storm brought strong winds and sudden heavy rainfall, causing dams to burst and significant damage to infrastructure.

It also led to massive flooding, devastation, and deaths.

As search and rescue efforts continue, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Libya warned that chances of finding survivors are “very slim.”

More than 11,000 people are reported dead, with a further 10,100 missing.

The deadly disaster also displaced more than 30,000 others.

In a recent update, the United Nations (UN) revised the death toll from 11,500 fatalities to merely 3,958 people as opposed to the figure provided by the Libyan Red Crescent, amid a chaotic response on the ground in the divided country.
