IN his program Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa aired on Monday, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte shared his insight on the issue of alleged legalized corruption taking place in Congress and how the people will know how and where their money is being spent.
The former President said there is only one way for the public to know where their money is going or being used.
‘‘So, the only way really to know the truth of where the money goes is to open the books and you will see how much money is being spent by each and every congressman. That it’s not at all fair, Ma’am,’’ according to Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Republic of the Philippines.
President Duterte explained that by opening the book of accounts of the House, the lifestyle of the politicians will be revealed.
He said that this is also where it will be determined who among them is a true Filipino and who is only pretending to be a patriot.
So, President Duterte challenges the public not to pay taxes unless the House opens its book of accounts.
‘‘We will not revolt. What’s wrong with that? There’s P30-B, don’t file your taxes. Tell the Congress this first, “We will pay our taxes, but publicize where our money is going and how much of it you receive,’’ Duterte said.
FPRRD: Opening House members’ book of accounts is a legal demand
President Duterte added that this challenge is not a threat, but a legal demand.
‘‘It is not a threat, it is a legal demand. Let me know where my money went or how it was spent, then I will pay my taxes again this year. Without informing me if you were stealing, or we were short-changed, or maybe the money we gave you, we gave fifty of what you spent, but you stole it. That’s nonsense.’’
‘‘It’s a give and take, it is a legal demand, it is not an unlawful demand. Just publish it, open the book so that we will know,’’ Duterte added.
