French Ambassador pays courtesy call to PH Navy Chief, discusses bilateral cooperation

THE Philippine Navy welcomed French Ambassador to the Philippines, Marie Fontanel, during her courtesy call to Rear Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta PN, Flag Officer In Command, Philippine Navy, on January 14, 2025, at the Navy Headquarters.

Ambassador Fontanel congratulated Rear Admiral Ezpeleta PN on his recent appointment and discussed upcoming cooperation initiatives including the deployment of the “CLEMENCEAU 25” French Carrier Strike Group in the Indo-Pacific, and France’s involvement in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program.

Rear Admiral Ezpeleta PN expressed enthusiasm for the French Navy’s carrier strike group deployment and its contributions to AFP modernization, emphasizing the Philippine Navy’s commitment to strengthening ties with France. He also highlighted the significance of international cooperation in enhancing maritime security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
