INAPRUBAHAN nitong Huwebes ng National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board, na pinamumunuan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., ang apat na proyekto, plano, at polisiyang magpapabilis sa social at economic transformation ng bansa.
Sa press briefing sa Malacañang, sinabi ni NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan na kinumpirma ng NEDA Board sa ika-12 pulong nito ang pagtatayo ng P67.4-B 23-kilometer four-lane alternative route para i-bypass ang kasalukuyang Dalton Pass sa Central Luzon, na inaasahang matatapos sa 2031.
Ang proyekto, na ipatutupad ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), ay magpapadali sa tuluy-tuloy na transportasyon ng mga tao sa paghahatid ng mga mahahalagang produkto at serbisyo sa loob ng rehiyon.
Sinabi rin ni Balisacan na kinumpirma ng Board ang ikalawang yugto ng masterplan at High Standard Highways Network Development ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Ito ay naglalayong magbigay ng mas mataas na kalidad, mataas na standard na highway network para sa mas mabilis, mas ligtas, mas komportable, mas maaasahan at isang pangkalikasan na transportasyon sa kalsada.
Natukoy ng masterplan ang 53 class 1 projects na ipatutupad sa maikling panahon, o mga proyektong matatapos sa 2030; ang medium term, o ang mga magsisimula sa 2030 at matatapos sa 2035; at long term, o mga proyektong magsisimula sa 2035 at matatapos sa 2045.
“These projects will support connectivity for economic growth and development, efficiency in reducing traffic congestion, environmental sustainability and social acceptability,” pahayag ni Sec. Arsenio Balisacan, NEDA.
Bukod dito, kasama rin sa inaprubahan ang pag-endorso ng Board para sa iminungkahing executive order na magpapalawig hanggang Disyembre 31, 2024 ang reduced Most Favored Nation (MFN) tariff rates sa mga piling commodities na sakop sa ilalim ng Executive Order No. 10, series of 2022 kabilang ang baboy, mais at bigas.
“Thus, the tariff rates for pork will remain at 15% in-quota and 25% out-quota; corn at 5% in-quota and 15% out-quota; and rice at 35% for both in-quota and out-quota for the extended period,” dagdag ni Balisacan.
Panghuli, inaprubahan ng NEDA Board ang eight-point action agenda ng medium-term na strategy ng Department of Health (DOH) para sa sektor ng kalusugan mula 2023 hanggang 2028, na naaayon sa Philippine Development Plan at sa Universal Health Care program.
“This action agenda contains priority strategies for the health sector that are divided into three major parts dedicated for every Filipino, every community and every health worker and institution in the country,” aniya.
Sa naturang pulong din, ay nakatanggap ang NEDA Board ng mga update at naunang inaprubahang PPP project: ang University of the Philippines General Hospital o UP-PGH Cancer Center Public-Private Partnership Project; Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway Extension Project; at, ang solicited proposal para sa rehabilitasyon, pagpapatakbo, pagpapalawak at paglipat ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) PPP Project.
“We conclude this year, we are committed to sustaining our efforts to place vital programs and projects that will enhance connectivity, generate high quality employment through investments and significantly improve the living standards for every Filipino,” pagtatapos ni Balisacan.
