Indonesia, Japan to partner on 24 energy transition projects

THE first-ever Asia Zero Emission Community resulted in the signing of dozens of cooperation projects between Japan and Pacific nations in Tokyo.

Indonesia and Japan co-hosted the event.

Its community members consist of Australia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The summit serves as an avenue for community members to cooperate in achieving net-zero emissions in Asia and its surrounding areas.

The meeting produced a joint statement that contained the commitment of its member countries to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement such as keeping global warming to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Of the 69 cooperation agreements on energy transition that were discussed, 24 will be worked on together by Indonesia and Japan.

Indonesia and Japan also agreed to remove more trade barriers and improve relations in the banking sector.
