BINIGYANG-diin ni Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Gilberto ‘Gibo’ Teodoro na hindi “misunderstanding” o “accident” ang insidente noong Hunyo 17 sa Ayungin Shoal.
Ang mga katagang ito ay taliwas sa unang naging pahayag ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin noong nakaraang linggo.
“No, well this was probably a misunderstanding or accident, we are not yet ready to classify this as an armed attack,” ayon kay Lucas Bersamin, Executive Secretary.
“We see the latest incident in Ayungin not as a misunderstanding or an accident. It is a deliberate act of the Chinese officialdom to prevent us from completing our mission,” ayon naman kay Defense Sec. Gilberto Teodoro, Jr.
Binigyang-diin din ni Teodoro na hindi minamaliit ng gobyerno ang naturang pangyayari, sabay sinabing ito ay isang agresibo at ilegal aniya na paggamit ng dahas ng China.
Muli namang nanindigan ang Pilipinas na hindi isusuko ng bansa, kahit isang pulgada o milimetro ng ating teritoryo sa anumang dayuhang kapangyarihan.
“Kailanman ay hindi tayo magpapasupil at magpapaapi kahit sa kanino man. We would also like to categorically state that our policy in the West Philippine Sea has not changed,” ani Teodoro.
Gayunpaman, inihayag ng DND Chief na patuloy na naghahanap ng mapayapang solusyon ang Pilipinas sa isyung ito at hindi mag-uudyok ng digmaan.

Samantala, inanunsiyo pa ni Teodoro na tinanggihan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang rekomendasyon ng National Maritime Council (NMC) na maglathala ng iskedyul ng rotation and resupply (RORE) missions sa Ayungin Shoal.
Idiniin ng kalihim na hindi humihingi ng pahintulot mula sa sinuman ang Pilipinas sa pagganap nito ng mga sinumpaang tungkulin sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Ito rin ang sinabi ni Año at inihayag na regular na ipagpapatuloy ng Philippine government ang RORE missions.
“The president has decided there will be no publication RORE. But RORE is a regular and routine activity of the government in BRP Sierra Madre,” ani Sec. Eduardo Año, National Security Adviser.
Sa kabilang dako, nagbigay naman ng tugon si Secretary Año doon sa mungkahi ni Sen. Francis Tolentino na i-convene ang National Security Council (NSC) para pagpulungan ang karampatang sagot sa ginawa ng Tsina noong Hunyo 17, 2024.
“I think it’s about time the president considers convening peace and security ng ating bansa,” ani Sen. Francis Tolentino.
“At this moment, we are not recommending for the convening of the Nat’l Security Council, however, the president has the discretion to convene the full council or the exec committee anytime,” tugon naman ni Sec. Año.
Sinagot naman ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang tanong kung pinatawag na ang Chinese envoy kaugnay ng insidente.
“There is – there is these certain moves except that si Secretary will be here later tonight and that things will kick in on the possibilities,” ayon kay Usec. Ma. Theresa Lazaro, DFA.
