Iran begins air force drill as US sends more warships, fighter jets

IRAN launched an air force drill as the United States sent more warships and fighter jets to the Gulf Region.

Air force personnel from Iran participated in the annual air force dubbed Fadaeian Velyat-11, or Devotees of the Supreme Leader-11.

More than 90 fighter planes, bombers, and drones would participate in the drill held at an air base in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The drills are held from time to time and are designed to assess the force’s combat readiness and demonstrate the nation’s military capabilities.

This came after the United States announced a plan to send more fighter planes, warships, and military personnel to the Middle East after Iranian forces threatened commerce in and out of the Persian Gulf.

According to Pentagon, the guided-missile destroyer USS Thomas Hudner and several F-35 jets will be sent to the area.

It can be remembered that Iran has seized several oil tankers passing through the strategic waterway in recent months citing concerns of legal disputes or alleged smuggling activity.
