IRANIAN President Ebrahim Raisi urged expansion of ties with the Philippines and three other countries.
According to the Philippine Embassy in Tehran, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi wished that the “friendly and cordia” ties between the Philippines and Iran to be further enhanced.
The embassy made the remark after Roberto G. Manalo, the Philippines’ new ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, submitted his credentials to the Iranian president along with the newly-appointed ambassadors of India, Libya and Bangladesh earlier this week.
In October of last year, Iran expressed its intention to strengthen its defense ties with the Philippines through a meeting held between Iranian Ambassador to Manila Alireza Tootoonchian and the Department of National Defense.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s current President Dr. Arif Alvi also relayed his country’s intention to expand bilateral ties with the Philippines along with Iran, and Rwanda in the fields of trade, economy, investment, culture, and people-to-people contacts.
Pakistan made the remark after the newly appointed ambassadors of the said countries presented their diplomatic credentials to the Pakistani President on Thursday.
Iran and the Philippines have formally established diplomatic ties in 1964 and held their first bilateral conference in 2003.
