DEFENCE Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani made it known that the US will face extraordinary problems if it continues its plan to set up a multinational task force in the Red Sea.
Asthiani warned the US military cannot make a move in a region predominated by Iran.
The move came following escalating attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on ships with alleged ties to Israel or sailing to it.
The attacks were in response to Washington’s support to Israel amid its ongoing war with Hamas in Gaza.
American and French navies have strengthened their presence in the Red Sea since the strings of attacks launched by the Iran-backed Houthis.
To recall, the US Navy even invited Australia to send a warship to strengthen its multinational force.
