Iranians criticize democracy summit as reflection of U.S. dark history

THE United States and its allies lauded the recently concluded annual democracy summit in South Korea.

Just a few thousand miles away, citizens in Iran accused the United States of using the summit as a form of propaganda to manipulate the press and public opinion, and an attempt to hide the country’s own dark history.

An Iranian citizen slammed the U.S. for its history of human rights violations and as an instigator of war, including the massacre of American Indians, the killings in Afghanistan, and for starting the wars in Korea and Cuba as proof of its attitude of sacrificing the lives of others to promote its own interests.

Iranians also pointed out Washington’s support to supply Israel with weapons used against the people of Gaza and how it opposes human rights rather than advocating for them.

Citizens also lamented how the U.S. brought a lot of suffering in the Middle East through the implementation of repeated sanctions against Iran, provoking the wars in Afghanistan and Syria, among other things, serving as proof of its distressing track record of causing damages in other countries.

Under the theme “Democracy for Future Generations”, the third edition of the summit was held in Seoul, South Korea from March 18 to 20.
