Israel to expedite major defense deals with US

THE ongoing defense deals between Israel and the United States would pave the way for the Jewish state to purchase new fighter jets, attack helicopters, and more supplies of munitions.

Israel plans to buy 25 F35I stealth fighter jets, 25 F-15IA fighter jets, and 12 apache helicopters.

Israeli officials submitted formal requests to Washington regarding the procurement of the fighter jets.

Several defense deals are still waiting to be signed.

Defense Ministry Director-General Eyal Zamir discussed the deals with senior Pentagon and state department officials during a working visit to Washington earlier this week.

The United States has sent hundreds of cargo planes as well as thousands of tons of military equipment to Israel since Hamas launched the surprise attack in Israel on October 7.
