NORTH Korea made headlines after it announced it had successfully launched a military spy satellite into orbit on Tuesday.
However, Japan and South Korea tried to cut off the celebration by reporting that the attempt was not successful.
Japanese officials doubted whether the launch was a success given the slow speed at which the rocket was fired.
The officials said they were also trying to confirm if North Korea used missile technology provided by Russia.
Defense officials from South Korea also claimed the launch could have failed and added more time and analysis are needed to determine whether the projectile is working properly there.
Meanwhile, North Korea’s official media reported that the country’s supreme leader Kim Jong Un visited the control center shortly after the spy satellite successfully entered orbit.
Amid reports of potential failure, North Korea announced that the spy satellite it had deployed recently will start its mission in December, and promised to launch more projectiles in the future.
