Japan strongly condemns North Korea for missile launch

North Korea on Wednesday announced of a successful attempt to launch its first military spy satellite into orbit – a move that earned strong criticisms from Tokyo and Washington.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida accused North Korea of breaching United Nation resolutions and expressed his condemnation of the launch in “strongest possible terms”.

Kishida emphasized that the launch of a projectile that uses ballistic missile technology is clearly a violation of the UN resolution.

Locals were startled by the loud, late-night alarm after officials issued an evacuation order to residents in the southern region of Okinawa.

Local officials canceled the public announcement after the missile passed into the Pacific Ocean just before 11:00 pm on Tuesday, local time.

This is North Korea’s third attempt to launch a military spy satellite after two previous efforts have failed this year.
