PERSONNEL from the Coast Guard Sub Station (CGSS) San Nicolas and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in San Nicolas swiftly responded to a reported grass fire at Taal Volcano Island, Barangay Pulang Bato, San Nicolas, Batangas, 01 April 2025.
Upon sighting the fire, CGSS San Nicolas immediately reported the incident to the BFP San Nicolas and coordinated with CGSS Agoncillo for additional support.
A joint response team consisting of CGSS San Nicolas, CGSS Agoncillo, the MDRRMO San Nicolas, and BFP San Nicolas was promptly deployed to the affected area.
The team, led by BFP San Nicolas and MDRRMO San Nicolas, conducted an initial assessment, focused on containing the fire, and evaluated its possible causes and extent of damage.
Preliminary assessments by BFP San Nicolas estimate that approximately three to five hectares have been affected by the fire. Response teams continue to monitor the situation closely while conducting further evaluations to determine the full extent of the damage and the cause of the fire.
