THE Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) has issued a warning regarding a fake account posing as Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, soliciting money is not affiliated with them.
Cybercrime is one of the serious issues faced by every country, especially the Philippines.
Just recently, several government agencies fell victim to various forms of cybercrime.
One of the common tactics is hacking, where hackers gain access to the target’s account and use it to deceive people.
There’s also the impersonation of an individual or an agency’s logo, claiming to be a legitimate organization, then asking for money.
Even the group The Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), a large organization with millions of followers, was not spared from this type of crime.
An online fake account pretending to be Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy is using the church’s logo to deceive and extort money from innocent individuals.
The modus operandi involves the fake account sending messages to its victims claiming that the church has projects such as feeding programs and housing for the poor, and providing a GCash number allegedly under the name Nyra Dimaiyacan for donation purposes.
Due to this, The Kingdom of Jesus Christ promptly issued a statement regarding the said fake account.
“Please be warned that there is a social media post, claiming to be from the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name and Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, soliciting donations from the public. The post further names an individual and GCash number where to send the donations,” according to The Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
KOJC clarified that neither the mentioned social media post nor the donation solicitation is connected to their organization or their esteemed pastor.
“Notice is hereby given that the Kingdom and Pastor Quiboloy have not authorized this social media post or the solicitation of donations in that post or any individual to receive any such donations,” The Kingdom of Jesus Christ added.
The group, along with Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy, the board of administrators, and millions of followers, emphasized that they would never engage in any unethical activities, especially extorting money from anyone using the Kingdom’s name.
“The Kingdom and Pastor Quiboloy, its executive pastor, board of administrators, full-time miracle workers, employees and representatives will not use the kingdom for any unethical purpose, especially not to swindle money from any person. As such, this notice covers all kingdom citizens whose names may be used for the above-cited purpose by unscrupulous persons,” The Kingdom of Jesus Christ added.
