MORNING, noon, afternoon, night, and even midnight—the police presence outside the religious compound of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) in Davao City is intense.
The police claim they are just maintaining visibility.
However, the close proximity of their checkpoints, all facing the KOJC religious compound, is noticeable.
Even the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) frequently monitors vehicles outside the compound.
The complaints from KOJC members have reached City Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte.
“I declared a war on drugs, figuratively or literally, but I said we would declare it. But it is a more serious problem compared to the accusations against Pastor Quiboloy,” said Mayor Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte, Davao City.
Mayor Duterte questioned the excessive police presence outside the church, the site of police abuse on June 10, 2024, during a violent search for Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.

“And it does not directly affect the lives of individual Filipinos or Davaoeños only. Now, they are wasting time there, which is pointless,” stated Mayor Duterte.
‘Inefficient, first of all, and a grave abuse of authority,” he added.
The once peaceful lives of KOJC missionaries in their Davao compound have been disrupted.
They have vowed to continue guarding the church’s property.
Mayor Duterte promised support to the KOJC members, hoping the harassment under the Marcos Jr. administration will end soon.

“For me, their actions are hilarious. It’s funny that they are so immature and out of place… They turned it into a playground where they do whatever they want, even without referring to the law. Similar to what they did to us,” Mayor Duterte concluded.
