SA pabago-bagong panahon ngayon dulot ng global warming at climate change, mahalaga nga na ang bawat isa ay may kontribusyon sa pangangalaga at pagpapanatili sa kalikasan para sa susunod na henerasyon.
Ayon kay Sustainability Standards Inc. Chairman Karl Stuart Mclean na ang mga namumuno sa gobyerno at maging sa pribadong sektor ay dapat nangunguna sa iba’t ibang ‘sustainability efforts’ bilang suporta sa United Nations Sustainable Development goals patungo sa isang global climate neutral society pagsapit ng taong 2050.
“We look at what they’ve done for sustainability. We look at what they’ve done other than recycle of plastics. Are you turning waste to energy? Are you doing renewable energy? We look at those areas. That’s the most important thing,” ayon kay Karl Stuart Mclean, Chairman, Sustainability Standards, Inc.
“Stop talking and start doing. Do it now. So much talking going on. We need to get action because the kids, our kids they want a new world,” dagdag ni Mclean.
Sinabi ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), mahalaga na ang bawat lokal na pamahalaan ay tutukan ang mga programa at proyektong nagsusulong sa pagpapanatili sa kalikasan.
“Napakahalaga niyan dahil alam naman natin na ang mabilis na pagbabago ng ating panahon, kapag nasisira po ang ating kapaligiran, ang ating natural resources ang naapektuhan ay ating kababayan. Tayo rin po ang napapahamak. Kaya dapat dito po tayo naka-focus,” pahayag ni Usec. Serafin Barretto, DILG.
Mga lingkod-bayan at kompanya na sumusulong ng ‘sustainability’, kinilala
Noong araw ng Biyernes sa Okada Manila, muling kinilala sa Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards ang mga lokal na pamahalaan at mga kompanya na patuloy na nagsusulong ng ‘sustainability’ sa pamamagitan ng kanilang mga programa at proyekto.
“The leaders are the innovators. They are the change makers. And tonight, we are gathered with the 61 awardees who will be recognized from the different platoria of organizations, whether it is from local government units, different organization, sustaining the program of the 17 program of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” ayon kay Kenneth Prieto Rocete, President and CEO, Sustainability Standards, Inc.
Kabilang sa mga kinilala ay ang mga lingkod-bayan mula sa pinakamataas na posisyon sa gobyerno hanggang sa barangay level.
Maging ang mga probinsiya, lungsod, munisipalidad, at barangay na itinuturing na ‘most sustainable’ at ‘most liveable’ ay kinilala rin.
Ilang kompanya rin sa bansa ang pinarangalan din sa Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards.
“It’s such an honor to be a member again of the Mosliv Award. Actually, this is my third. First when I was a councilor, second was bilang mayor ng Cauayan City. Of course they see Cauyan City as one of the most emerging cities that really pushes smart and sustainable actions on combatting different problems in the city,” wika ni Mayor Caesar Jaycee Dy, Jr., Cauayan, Isabela.
“I feel grateful and thankful dahil isa na naman po ako sa mabibigyan ng karangalan ngayong araw na ito. And it’s my third consecutive honorary vice mayor of the year,” pahayag ni Vice Mayor Bernard “Ninong” dela Cruz, Malabon City.
“Being recognized as government worker, I’m happy and I feel very grateful for our achievement that the people recognized it. And we are really proud as government official that we would be seen as one of the officers delivering service to the people,” ayon naman kay Dr. Mohammad Yacob, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform – BARMM.
“Talagang nagpapasalamat po kami lahat sa PhilHealth no and everytime that we are given the opportunity like this to share our programs and policies, and we are always happy to get recognized kasi po talagang 24/7 lahat kami nagtatrabaho and it always feels good to be recognized,” ayon naman kay Emmanuel Ledesma Jr., President, PhilHealth.
Naniniwala naman ang pamunuan ng Sustainability Standards Inc. na kung magtutuloy-tuloy at dadami pa ang mga lokal na pamahalaan at pribadong sektor na nagsusulong sa pagpapanatili sa kalikasan ay maaaring magiging first world country ang Pilipinas.
