THE intensifying violence in Sudan continued on Monday as air strikes were reported in the capital.
Representatives of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have gathered in Saudi Arabia to hold talks amid the ongoing war.
Despite this, the fighting between the two sides has not calmed as air strikes were reported in the capital, Khartoum.
According to Army Chief Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, the army was looking for a peaceful solution.
However, such an agreement can only be agreed upon if the two sides reach a permanent ceasefire in Sudan.
Currently, the United States-Saudi Arabia-led talks are still being held, but a Saudi diplomat source has disclosed that “no major progress” has been made.
For now, the mediators are urging both sides to reach a “permanent cessation of hostilities” and “an effective short-term halt.”
As of the latest figures, at least 750 have died, while another 5,000 have been injured.
Aside from this, an estimated 335,000 individuals have been displaced due to the conflict.
