Old wounds resurface as IDF recovers multiple bodies of Israeli hostages

ISRAEL’s Defense Forces (IDF) recovered three bodies of Israeli hostages who were taken captive by Hamas during a deadly attack against the Jewish state on October 7, 2023.

More than seven months have passed since Hamas attacked Israel and the series of violent clashes that soon followed shocked the whole world.

Countries across the globe witnessed with their own eyes the plight of the hostages and how Israel responded to the attack that led to current limited operations in Rafah.

In a heartbreaking update, the Israeli military on Friday announced it had recovered three bodies of Israelis taken hostage by Hamas in Gaza during the October 7 attack.

The bodies were identified as 22-year-old German-Israeli Shani Louk, 28-year-old Amit Buskila, and 56-year-old Itzhak Gelerenter.

The twisted body of the German-Israeli being paraded by Hamas in the back of a pickup truck instantly went viral and became a symbol of the gravity of the attack the victims faced that day.

All three joined the Supernova music festival near Kibbutz Urim on October 7 when Hamas infiltrated the event via motorized paragliders, killing at least 364 people and taking 40 others as hostages.

The Israeli military said they were murdered on the same day and their bodies were taken back to Gaza.

At least 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken by Hamas during the attacks, with 129 of them remaining in captivity in the war-torn territory.

Israel said its limited operations in Rafah aim to destroy remaining Hamas battalions in the city and to rescue Israeli hostages. The move has stalled ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire.
