PCG honored by PH Red Cross at World Disasters Report Forum

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)  has been recognized by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) during the World Disasters Report Forum at Makati Shangri-la Hotel yesterday, 30 May 2024.

The Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (CGPAS) Acting Commander, CG Rear Admiral Armando Balilo, together with the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Civil Relations Service, CG-7, CG Captain Lejanie Dy received the plaque of recognition on behalf of the PCG for the invaluable contributions and unwavering solidarity rendered by the PCG during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PCG significantly contributed to the PRC’s early pandemic response, performing 5.7 million RT-PCR tests, managing isolation facilities, administering vaccinations, and providing psychosocial support to Filipinos.

Moreover, the forum discussed pandemic preparedness, focusing on key aspects of the international response to COVID-19.

The International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC), Australian Government, and the United Nations Philippines co-hosted the said undertaking.
