PCG Marine Environmental Protection Command launches Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat

PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) Marine Environmental Protection Command (MEPCOM) officially launches the Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat at the PCG Gymnasium, Coast Guard Base Farola, Binondo, Manila, today, 05 April 2024.

This initiative is designed to enhance marine environmental protection by promoting community involvement and collaboration with Local Government Units and various stakeholders in safeguarding the marine ecosystems.

Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat embodies the PCG’s dedication to environmental consciousness within its strategic framework. It represents a concerted effort to safeguard the seas, ensuring they remain a vibrant cornerstone of national prosperity.

PCG Commandant CG Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan spearheaded the said launching ceremony.

During his speech, he emphasizes the importance of navigating the uncharted waters of marine conservation with a profound sense of responsibility. Every decision, no matter how small, influences the well-being of our marine ecosystems. He stressed the significance of recognizing that individual and collective actions have the potential to bring about positive change with significant impacts on the environment, society, and beyond.

Also present during the launch were Department of Transportation (DOTr) Assistant Secretary, Atty. Julius Yano; Deputy Commandant for Operations, CG Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr; Deputy Commandant for Administration, CG Vice Admiral Allan Victor Dela Vega; MEPCOM Commander, CG Vice Admiral Roy Echeverria; City Mayors, Councilors, NGO’s, LGU’s, Maritime Stakeholders, and other government agencies.
