PH Gov’t launches newest Disaster Response Command Center in Quezon City

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. led the launch of the government’s newest Disaster Response Command Center at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Headquarters in Quezon City.

The new facility will serve as a central hub for reporting, coordination, preparedness, and response during calamities.

It will also enhance the sharing of communication equipment and assets among DSWD offices and stakeholders nationwide.

The center will provide information on the remaining aid inventory and identify areas most in need.

“It is the command center of the DSWD’s disaster response, the mission control of our community development drive, and it may be the compassion central that dispenses help to the needy,” according to President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., Republic of the Philippines.

The command center can also be utilized by other agencies and government bodies, such as the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Meanwhile, Marcos also spearheaded the launch of the ‘Buong Bansa Handa Project’ for disaster preparedness.

This initiative will establish a national and local government-driven supply chain for the production of aid at the DSWD’s resource operations center.

It also involves the establishment of additional disaster resource centers in strategic regions like the Caraga Region in Mindanao.

“But what DSWD offers goes beyond just easing the pain of victims of misfortune – it ends at the roots of the vulnerability of those most in need of our society,” President Marcos added.
