Putin flies to North Korea to see Kim Jong Un as West watches

NORTH Korean Leader Kim Jong Un reaffirmed support for Russia’s war in Ukraine as he welcomed Russian President Vladimir Putin‘s arrival whom he referred to as a comrade-in-arms.

Two of America’s fiercest adversaries embarked on a historic meeting in Pyongyang in the wake of escalating confrontations with Washington.

Putin received a grand welcome as he arrived in the North Korean capital.

Thousands of North Koreans who were waving the flags of both countries greeted him while grand portraits of the Russian leader lined up on the streets of Pyongyang.

Mounted soldiers and military personnel also welcomed the Russian leader as he and North Korea’s Supreme Leader walked in the backdrop of an exuberant crowd.

Putin told Kim that Moscow is fighting against the decades-long “hegemonic and imperialist policy” of the United States and its allies as he thanked Kim for supporting Russia in its war in Ukraine.

Both leaders signed a comprehensive strategic partnership that could deepen their military and economic cooperation amid an onslaught of Western sanctions.

The last time Putin stepped on North Korean soil was in 2000 which made the visit historic and symbolic for both allies.

Putin also paid Vietnam a visit on Wednesday and Thursday.

Russia and North Korea- both heavily sanctioned by the west- have strong cooperation in the spheres of defense and trade.
