QATARI billionaire Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is increasingly confident of winning the battle to buy Manchester United from the Glazer family.
The Doha-based billionaire made his fifth and final offer last week to purchase one of the most popular football clubs in the world.
Sheikh Jassim – the son of Qatar‘s former prime minister who is one of the richest men in the Gulf state – is negotiating to be granted exclusivity of Manchester United.
If the deal pushes through, Manchester United would not be allowed to negotiate with any bidder other than Sheikh Jassim for the exclusivity period.
Sheikh Jassim’s offer is currently viewed by the Glazer family as more favorable than a bid from British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe who offered to keep the Glazer family on board with a reduced stake of around 20%.
The $6 billion-plus deal made by the Qatari billionaire for Manchester United would be one of the biggest ever in the sports world.
The Qatari-led consortium expects to make a full sale this summer.
Manchester United has won the Premier League 13 times since 1992.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who now plays for Saudi football club Al-Nassr was the star player of Manchester United for seven-and-a-half years before he left the club in November 2022.
