SAUDI Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan will meet his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during the month of Ramadan.
The meeting will pave a way for both countries to reopen their embassies.
The two diplomats held a phone call on Monday where they discussed several issues of mutual interest, including the trilateral agreement signed with China.
On March 10, Saudi Arabia and Iran signed a trilateral agreement with China in the presence of Chinese State Councilor Wang Yi in Beijing.
The regional rivals restored relations after severing diplomatic ties in 2016.
According to the joint statement, Saudi Arabia and Iran will reopen their embassies within two months.
Hopes sparked that Saudi Arabia might also restore diplomatic ties with Syria amid the latest diplomatic reshuffling in the region.
