Saudi crown prince, Iran’s president discuss the Israel-Palestine conflict

SAUDI Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated the Kingdom’s effort to engage with international and regional parties in order to halt the current escalation in Gaza, a territory controlled by Palestinian militant group Hamas.

The crown prince made the statement during a phone call he received from Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Wednesday.

He also expressed his opposition to targeting civilians and taking innocent lives, while emphasizing the need to take into account the principles of international humanitarian law.

Both leaders made the phone call as war between Israel and Palestine entered its fifth day.

On day 6 of the war, the death toll has risen to 1,300, with the Israeli minister warning to continuously block electricity, fuel, or humanitarian aid into Gaza until Hamas releases all captives.

More than a hundred people were taken hostage by Hamas fighters. The Palestinian militant group threatened to execute one Israeli captive for each Palestinian home bombed without warning by Israel.

The group also demanded freedom for all 5,200 prisoners the Palestinians claimed were held in Israeli jails in exchange for the captives.

As of Thursday, close to 4,000 people have been killed in Israel and Gaza as heavy Israeli bombardments continue to hit the Palestinian enclave.

Rocket fires also resumed from the Gaza Strip on the same day.

Carnage, death, and destruction littered the air as fighting from both sides intensified and showed no sign of slowing down.
