TF Davao nabs more than 60 individuals in checkpoints

THE Task Force Davao (TFD) apprehended a total of 66 individuals in various checkpoints in the city during the first quarter of 2024.

With the strengthened TFD-DCPO Joint Checkpoint operations, the TF Davao apprehended 54 illegal drug couriers carrying shabu and marijuana with a combined street value of Php 2,517,608.

The TFD also caught 8 persons for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and confiscated 9 firearms; while one person was apprehended for violation of R.A. 4712 for transporting 6,000 reams of smuggled cigarettes with an estimated street value of Php 3,000,000.

Two persons were also caught for violating the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act; while, one person was caught for violation of P.D. 1727 or the “Anti-Bomb Joke Law.”

TF Davao Commander, Col. Darren Comia said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) that they immediately turned over these individuals to the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) for legal action.

“Normally, majority of the individuals we apprehended are from areas outside Davao. This shows that the drugs are from outside the city and are only smuggled inside. We immediately turned them over to the Davao City Police Office for legal action since they are the ones who file the cases, and I believe all cases have been promptly filed with the proper courts,” he said.

Comia also said that they have strengthened the checkpoints in the 9 entry points of the city to ensure the safety and security of Davao.

The Task Force Davao continues to urge Dabawenyos and people who plan to visit the city to cooperate with the safety and security forces to maintain the peace, security, and order of Davao City.

To all Dabawenyos and to those who plan on coming here in Davao, we are implementing a campaign in the city, the Culture of Security Campaign wherein everyone is encouraged to volunteer: yield to inspections conducted by the Task Force Davao and the Davao City Police Office. There are numerous checkpoints around Davao, and volunteering yourselves is necessary to ensure the safety of everyone. Of course, report: report suspicious people in your area; report unattended baggage; and report incidents in your area. The security cluster will not be able to perform our duties efficiently if no one will report incidents],” Comia said. CIO
