THE Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) predicted that roughly 6 million tourists from Europe will visit the “Land of Smiles” by the end of 2023.
It’s not just Russians, Chinese, and travelers from nearby Asian countries, Thailand also anticipates a wave of Europeans visiting the country in the coming months.
According to the TAT, the six million Europeans will represent roughly 80% of the pre-pandemic total and will generate more than 420 billion baht in revenue.
TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said he believes Thailand remains the top destination in Asia for European markets.
“I am confident Thailand remains the top destination in Asia for European markets,” said Yuthasok supasorn, Governor for Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Supasorn said that demand for travel among Europeans could remain for the next 1-2 years, however, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, risk of recession, labor shortage, and insufficient flight capacity could affect the outcome.
Thailand is expecting 30 million visitors in 2023 which is quite close to the nearly 40 million foreigners who arrived in the country and spent 1.91 trillion baht in 2019.
