Thousands evacuated after dike breach in Central China

LOCAL rescuers in Central China Hunan province have completed evacuating over 3,800 residents from a village submerged in flood waters.

No casualties have been reported so far.

The village was flooded after a nearby river’s dike was breached on Sunday.

Hunan has been experiencing heavy rains since Saturday evening.

Chinese rescue forces rushed to the village to evacuate them overnight

Many rescue workers’ skins became reddened, swollen, and irritated due to long-time exposure to the floodwaters.

Meanwhile, temporary shelters have been set up in four local schools to accommodate the evacuated residents, providing supplies and medical care.
