Tobacco use declining globally despite industry interference—WHO

IN the latest report of the World Health Organization (WHO), there has been a declining trend in tobacco use among 150 nations.

On the other hand, the WHO pointed out that even though numbers have decreased throughout the years and the world will make it to a 25 percent relative reduction in tobacco use by 2025, the voluntary goal of 30 percent will not be reached and only 56 countries are expected to reach this goal.

Currently, there are more than one billion adult tobacco users globally with Southeast Asia having the highest percentage of the population using tobacco at 26.5 percent.

There are 1.25 billion adult tobacco users globally.

The WHO urged for efforts to fight the tobacco industry’s attempt to undermine progress.
