THE United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Arab world’s second-largest economy, enjoys a thriving tourism sector as it attracts more visitors worldwide.

The Gulf nation’s tourism industry recovered swiftly after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The UAE ranked 18th on the World Economic Forum’s latest travel and tourism development index and topped the list in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The index measures a country’s ability to sustainably grow its travel and tourism industry.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia were the only Gulf nations to have entered the top 10 list for high-income economies.

The oil-rich country aims to boost the number of hotel rooms from the current 34,000 up to 52,000 as it invests heavily in its tourism and aviation infrastructure to cope up with growing demand.
