UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed warmly welcomed Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan as both leaders met in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi for bilateral talks.
Sheikh Mohamed and Foreign Minister Fidan discussed efforts to enhance the humanitarian response for civilians affected by the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Both leaders also discussed regional and international efforts to promote de-escalation and safeguard the lives of civilians.
The UAE President also extended his warmest greetings to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Nearly 6,000 people have died in Gaza since Israel launched airstrikes in the Palestinian enclave in response to the surprise by Hamas on October 7.
The United Nations, United States, and Canada appealed for a humanitarian pause in the Israel-Hamas war to allow the safe distribution of aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip.
The Turkish foreign minister will travel next to Qatar but it remains unclear whether he will meet with Hamas’ political leaders during his trip to Doha.
