UAE signs $200-M deal to buy dozens of robotic combat vehicles

THE UAE’s Ministry of Defense and Estonia-based robotics firm Milrem inked a $200-M contract to buy robotic combat vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) military.

Under the deal, Milrem will supply the UAE with 40 units of TheMIS unmanned ground vehicles and 20 tracked robotic combat vehicles known as Type X.

The contract includes an experimental and trial program.

The multimillion deal marks one of the most significant orders signed by Estonia’s defense industry and hailed as the world’s largest combat robotics program.

A larger order is expected to take place once the first batch of orders has been completed.

The deal was announced during the 6th edition of the Unmanned Systems Exhibition & Conference hosted by the UAE from the 22nd through the 25th of January.

The UAE aims to enhance its combat capabilities and operational efficiency through third-party payloads and high-quality communication solutions.
