HUNDREDS of migrants stormed the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas, overwhelming the National Guard Troops stationed in the area.
This incident comes amid the intense battle between the governor of Texas and U.S. President Joe Biden on migrant policies—and the recently passed state bill that allows authorities to arrest, jail, or deport illegal migrants.
This is the distressing scene that happened on the U.S.-Mexico border— wherein migrants crawled through a gap in the dangerous razor wire and fencing.
Some were also climbing over the structure just to gain entry.
The US national guard was seen lining up some of the groups for asylum processing in El Paso on the Texas side, next to the border wall in the area known as gates 36.
Others were reportedly pushed back into Mexico.
There are over 100 migrants from camps along the border that managed to breach the wire fence.
This comes amid a legal row between the state and the Biden administration on additional powers for the state authorities of Texas to arrest those suspected of illegally crossing the border.
To recall, U.S. lawmakers approved the Texas Senate Bill 4 or SB4, which allows state law enforcement officials to arrest illegal migrants.
It also allows state judges to be able to sentence them up to 6 months in prison or deport them.
Repeat offenders would also face imprisonment between two and twenty years.
The U.S. Supreme Court cleared the said Bill, however, it was blocked hours later by an appeals court.
The White House claimed that the new SB4 violates the American constitution and interferes with the federal power to regulate the process of immigration.
The White House meanwhile, Texas Governor Gregg Abbot has repeatedly clashed with the Biden administration over the razor wire issue and for deploying national guards to the border amid a huge surge in the number of migrants wanting to gain entry into the U.S.
