Vietnam’s tourism enjoys faster growth than Thailand, Japan

ONLINE travel company Agoda praised Vietnam for its thriving tourism industry as it witnessed faster growth than Thailand and Japan which are more popular among international travelers.

Vietnam is famous for its natural landscapes, refreshing Vietnamese cuisine, and its interesting colonial history, making it a worth-visiting destination.

The Southeast Asian country is also famous for its incredible caves and is home to Son Doong, the biggest cave in the world.

Based on the latest trend, the online travel company observed that even though Thailand welcomed the biggest group of inbound travelers from South Korea, more Koreans still prefer traveling to Japan and Vietnam.

Agoda CEO Omri Morgenshtern acknowledged Thailand as a great vacation destination but said it could develop more reasons for people to visit the country, adding that more investments, businesses, and people in the country can also drive tourism over time.

With more than 3,000 employees, or about half of its global workforce operating in Bangkok, the CEO of Agoda noted that his company has an obligation to Thailand to build up the startup ecosystem, as well as to teach and expose people to different ideas.

The online travel company proposed that Thailand could maintain its edge by removing visa restrictions, opening more flight routes, and creating business reasons for travel.

Thailand has already welcomed 11 million visitors halfway through 2023 and is aiming to welcome 25 million foreigners by the end of the year.
