VICE President Sara Duterte participated in the celebration of International Day of Education last January 24, 2024 in Pasig City as secretary of Department of Education (DepEd).
This is the fifth year of celebrating the International Day of Education in accordance with the UN General Assembly declaration.
This year, DepEd focus on the importance of education towards peace and development.
VP Sara shared the different challenges of the Philippine basic education system so the department is strengthening the interventions and actions being taken to ensure that every Filipino young learner is on the path to free, appropriate and inclusive education.
She also shared that a year ago the DepEd launched a Matatag Agenda: Bansang Makabata and Batang Makabansa to address key challenges in education.
This includes a variety of policies to support the implementation of the strong agenda.
She thanks all those who attended, representatives of different embassies and our local and international partners.
