IN Africa, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have agreed to extend the truce in the country for five more days.
The decision comes a week after the two sides agreed to a 7-day ceasefire that was mediated by the United States and Saudi Arabia.
It can be noted that even though there was a week-long truce deal, air strikes and violence were still reported in the capital, Khartoum.
In a joint statement, the two sides admitted that the ceasefire has not been fully followed, but an extension will allow for more humanitarian assistance and aid to be delivered to civilians.
As of the latest data gathered, more than 700 people have died since the conflict began and over a million are internally displaced.
