ABOUT 75.9 million people were displaced by conflict, violence, and national disasters, in the Middle East and Africa by the end of 2023.
The Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC) said the number was the highest-ever figure they have recorded.
The conflicts in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza have contributed to the rising figures, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the record total.
Meanwhile, the report said 99% of displacements in Europe were linked to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Additionally, natural disasters led to the internal displacements of 26.4 million worldwide by the end of 2023.
