‘Where is it?’ Atty. Roque questions ‘iron-clad’ U.S. support to Philippines

ATTORNEY Harry Roque questioned the promised ‘iron-clad’ support of the United States to the Philippines amid tensions in the West Philippine Sea. The question is, where is that support?

“What happened? Where is Uncle Sam? Tell me, all you pro-Americans. Where is Uncle Sam’s ‘iron-clad’ support?” according to Atty. Harry Roque – Former Presidential Spokesperson.

This is the question posed by International Law Expert and Former Palace spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque to government officials relying on American support should tension escalate to war in the disputed territories between China and the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea.

To recall, the Chinese Coast Guard again blocked the rotation and resupply mission of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard to the BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal, which is part of the West Philippine Sea.

Aside from blocking, the Chinese also bombarded the government troops with water cannons.

The Philippine government strongly condemned the actions of the Chinese Coast Guard.

But Atty. Roque stressed that our country’s forces cannot fight China.

He also reiterated that the United States will not help ease tensions in the WPS because they have no national interest here.

“What should be done to make you understand that the Americans will not go to war if they have no national interest? What do they care about the Sierra Madre? What do they care about Ayungin Shoal? Can they profit from it?” Atty. Roque added.

Citing the Philippine history, Roque said America is among those who oppressed and caused hardships to our fellow Filipinos.

He also has an advised to stop China’s harassment…

“Let’s go back and fulfill the agreement during the time of the former president to provide food and water to the people in Sierra Madre,” Roque added.

Roque reiterated that he is not pro-China but he is only seeking the betterment of the Philippines.
