UKRAINIAN President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a startling accusation on September 8, claiming that Russian President Vladimir Putin was involved in Prigozhin’s death.
Zelenskyy stated that the available information pointed to Putin’s role and suggested that this incident highlighted Putin’s weakened political position.
To recall, on August 23, a tragic plane crash claimed the lives of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner mercenary group, and nine others.
The flight, which took off from Moscow en route to Saint Petersburg, crashed in the Tver region of Russia.
The Russian federal air transport agency released the crash victims’ names, including two pilots and a flight attendant.
Notably, Valeriy Chekalov and Wagner co-founder Dmitry Utkin were also on board.
Dmitry Utkin, known as “Wagner,” was Prigozhin’s right-hand man and played a key role in establishing the Wagner mercenary group.
Following the crash and the confirmation of his death by Russian authorities, a video surfaced in which Prigozhin mentioned that he was in Africa, as well as the date.
