A bus transporting dozens of pilgrims hit a bridge, overturned and caught fire while on their way to the Islamic Holy City of Mecca.
The deadly collision killed 20 people and injured nearly 30 others in the south-western province of Asir.
The victims were on their way to perform the Umrah pilgrimage in Mecca when the accident happened earlier this week.
According to the local media, there was an issue with the brakes although authorities are still investigating the real cause of the collision.
The victims consist of different nationalities including Bangladeshis and Saudis.
The incident highlights the consistent challenges when it comes to safely transporting worshippers to the holiest cities in Islam which proves to be a perilous task particularly during the Hajj.
The crash comes during the first week of Ramadan and months before millions of Muslims are expected to make the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
