55IB captures CTG arms cache in Maguindanao del Norte

OPERATING troops of the 55th Infantry Battalion (55IB), 1st Infantry Division further reduced the firepower of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) remnants with the capture of their massive arms cache hidden at the hinterlands of Sitio Talao, Barangay Karim, Buldon, Maguindanao del Norte on April 7, 2024.

Army troops, supported by personnel of 2nd Company, 2nd Marine Battalion Landing Team, captured three high-powered firearms consisting of two M16A1 rifles and one AK 47 Assault Rifle, a sniper scope, four magazines for AK 47, and more than four hundred 7.62 mm live ammunition for AK 47. The capture of the massive arms cache was based on the revelation of two former rebels who recently abandoned the armed struggle.

The Army leadership commended the 55IB operating troops for dealing another blow to the crumbling Sub-Regional Committee 5, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (SRC5-NCMRC) of the CPP-NPA. The Army leadership committed to push down all resources to ground units to finish off the remaining CTG forces and other peace spoilers in the area.
