Netanyahu says Israel to assume Gaza’s security after war

ISRAELI Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirms that Israel will take control of Gaza’s security indefinitely after the ongoing war with Hamas.

Netanyahu emphasized the need for long-term security in the region to prevent any resurgence of Hamas-related violence.

No immediate plans for a general ceasefire have been made.

The declaration follows discussions with US President Joe Biden about “tactical pauses” during the conflict for humanitarian aid and hostage releases, although Netanyahu has made it clear that a general ceasefire is conditional upon the release of Israeli hostages.

Meanwhile, Israel gave civilians still trapped inside Gaza a four-hour window to leave on Tuesday.

Israeli forces said it has surrounded the City of Gaza, which is home to 2.3-M people.
